About Us
|
|
I was employed with Telstra
for nearly 30 years until mid 2002, the highlight being in managing Telstra's IT
effort for the Olympics Unit which provided the total Telecommunications
for the "BEST EVER" Sydney 2000 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games.
Now that was a challenge, but a rewarding one.
My current challenge is
operating my own business in Video Production (Photography, Videography, Video Editing, etc), IT
Consulting, Internet &
related technologies.

My girls - Jessica (born 1988), Rebekah (born 1993), Sarah (born
1996) & Hannah (born 2000), are another challenge and yet a
constant source of joy.
I am a committed Christian worshipping at Gymea Baptist Church. I'm involved with the
Worship Team & Technology including the PA (sound system), computer presentation & video
system, lighting, church office computer network, etc. I was also involved in
Children's Ministries for many years in the past.
My parents live at Brunswick Heads (my home
town) & used to
have a nursery specialising in
Crucifix Orchids. Sadly, my father passed away in December 2008, just a
week after his 91st birthday.

About This Site
This site is about my family and the wider Sheaffe Family as we know it in Australia today as well
as the history of our line since the 1800's. The site will grow as I slowly collate the
mass of information held by my cousin Stephen and myself into something webbable.
The historical information presented on this site has been gathered from local
family knowledge, records and heirlooms held within the family. Extensive research has
also been conducted by my cousin Stephen Sheaffe. He published a book and organised an
Australia-wide Sheaffe reunion in 1988 which drew over 200 Sheaffe descendants to
Mullumbimby, the home of our forefathers on the far North Coast of NSW.

Sheaffe Family History Snippets
|
The Family Crest shown on this page is descendant from Sir Roger Hale Sheaffe
following his victory at The Battle of Queenston (near Niagara Falls) in 1812. |
|
The Sheaffe families in Australia have descended from Sir Roger's nephew, Captain
William Sheaffe, who was the first to come here with his infant son, Percy Hale Sheaffe,
in 1834, settling at
Stream Hill,
Dapto. |
Please browse these pages as your time and interest permit. If you have any
information about the Sheaffe family that I don't have, please contact me

The War of 1812 Bicentenary - Ontario Canada
During late September & October 2012, my cousin Stephen
Sheaffe with his wife Glenda, & I with my 2 youngest girls Sarah & Hannah,
visited Ontario to commemorate the bicentenary of the War of 1812, & in
particular, the bicentenary of The Battle of Queenston Heights, where our
ancestor, Sir Roger Hale Sheaffe was victorious in repelling the American
invaders & saved the first major battle of the war.
Stephen Sheaffe embarked on a speaking tour, enlightening the locals on the
facts of the true involvement of Major General Roger Sheaffe in winning that
battle for the British in the afternoon, after his predecessor, Sir Isaac
Brock, was losing the battle &
was killed earlier in the morning.
My role was to document
the whole journey in photo & video, with the aim of producing a documentary
video on the history of the Sheaffe family surrounding the War of 1812, &
the War of 1812 incorporating Sir Roger Sheaffe.
Here are links to the photos I have taken as part of this journey. Video
will be available in 'the fullness of time'.

The Annual SHEAFFE Family New Years Day Picnic
It has become a tradition over recent years for as many as
are able to gather in the park at Brunswick Heads on New Years Day for a
jolly time of catching up with each other & enjoying the best of local
fish-n-chips & calamari in the cool of the balmy afternoon ocean breeze. The
dwindling generation of my parents is offset by the growing generation of my
cousins' children & grand-children who attend this informal event.
