Percy Hale Sheaffe (1917-2008) My Family
Percy Hale Sheaffe was born in Mullumbimby on 14/12/1917 & grew up on the farm at
Goonengerry. As a young man he drove trucks in local carrier & logging
industries until buying a bus & establishing a bus service between
Mullumbimby & Lismore. This business grew into a substantial bus company
over many years with a fleet of buses & coaches based in Mullumbimby servicing
Mullumbimby-Goonengerry-Lismore, Murwillumbah-Lismore, Bangalow-Lismore,
Mullumbimby-Brisbane daily. |
Percy married Olive June Paull on 29/4/1950 in Sydney. June was the younger
of two daughters of Fred & Blanch Paull in Sydney.
Percy has been a Rotary member of nearly 60 years, twice President of
Mullumbimby club, Past District Governor & both Percy & June are Paul
Harris Fellows. Honoured with Life Membership when health prevented his

Always keen gardeners and an orchid enthusiast, Percy & June
"retired" from the bus industry in 1969 and moved to Brunswick Heads
where they opened an orchid nursery & florist business, with June an
acclaimed florist, where they continued until Percy's passing in December 2008
combined with Junes retreating mobility. |
Two children were produced - Me, Gregory Paul, in 1954, & my sister Debra
June in 1961.
Sadly, Percy passed away on 21st December, 2008, just a week after his 91st
birthday. We held a Thanksgiving service for his life on Christmas Eve. More
details here. |
