Henry Sheaffe (1873-1958)

Henry, the eldest son of George Henry & Amy Caroline Sheaffe, was born in Hunters Hill, Sydney. He spent his childhood in Forbes, Cooma, Goulburn & Orange where he also served an architectural and surveying apprenticeship. He spent considerable time surveying the Malaysian/Siam border for the British Government before returning to Australia to survey in Goulburn for the NSW Government. He eventually gave up surveying for the land, managing the property "Eurymin" at Nygin, and purchasing properties at Cobar & "Ayr" Scone. He went back to surveying in partnership with his father in Bowral in 1918 until 1954. He was very prominent in public life & community affairs and was Mayor for a number of years. A street in Bowral bears his name.

When his wife died in 1952, he moved to be with his daughters in Barraba where he died in 1958 & is buried.
